Ribonuclease t
Webb22 nov. 2024 · From a molecular standpoint, nucleases are a group of enzymes that degrade nucleic acids by hydrolyzing the phosphodiester bonds between the ribose moieties. These enzymes can be widely classified, according to the substrate preference, into DNases and RNases that catalyze the cleavage of DNA and RNA, respectively [ 15 ]. WebbRNases, which play important roles in nucleic acid metabolism, are found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes, and in practically every cell type. The human body uses RNases to defend against invading microorganisms by secreting these enzymes in fluids such as tears, saliva, mucus, and perspiration.
